So I’ve been looking for a floor jack and jack stands for a while, and I was at a local hardware store and I saw a set with a floor jack, 2 jack stands, a creeper and two wheel chocks for $30, so I went ahead and bought it, what’s your opinion? NPOCP?

I say NP, because on amazon, the same thing goes for 92 bucks.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

If you've had any experience with prolift and it's a shitty brand, let me know so I can return it before I open the box.

Those type jacks are junk.

Harbor Freight has a really good jack for $70-80

Can’t say much about the price, but .... LOL, are those user photos or from the manufacturer?

Probably NP, but as a general rule of thumb; I’m not too sure if they’re going to be good or not though.

Check Sears if you want to return them though.

For $30, I’d use the jack until it crapped out and then get a better one and still have the jack stands and creeper to use.

The trolley jack looks VERY similar to a Torin Big Red I used to have.

Did OK. It put the car in the air, but the caster wheels broke pretty quickly. It also creaked a bit too much for my taste.

Can't beat the price, that's for sure. Just don't go sticking your head under the car with that jack holding it up is all.

Those do seem a bit odd for a manufacturer... I didn’t look at them though.

Our sears probably holds the roscoes for smallest one ever, they don't sell stuff like this :(

I figure even if it breaks after 6 months, it's still probably less expensive than buying everything separately.

It's bad when your stuff is worse quality than harbor freight ;p

Oh noes! They’ve always got good sales though.

It usually takes forever though, when I went last to get the same thing they had to go to an inventory room, sent me to a waiting room and eventually brought it out to me and then had me bring my car around. It took me over an hour to pick up one floor jack.......

Not that you can expect much for 30 bucks, I don't care about creaks all that much. It will mostly be for maintenance anyway

Yup. Didn’t give much assistance either, but still better than a scissor jack.

Wow, that's a really long time for a floor jack, it took me al of about 2 minutes where I was at.

Haha, that’s the day where I saw the reason why Sears is going out of business.

Even with a not cheap jack I wouldn't stick my head under it until I got it up on jack stands

Ugh I hate scissor jacks, even the jack for changing the tire in my car is a bottle jack, not a scissor one.

Good man. I’m even leery of jack stands, mostly because the idea of something weighing 3lbs holding up something that weighs 3000lbs makes me feel like Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. “Your honor, I’m just a caveman. Your world frightens and confuses me, how can that tiny thing hold up a whole car?”

Our sears basically only sells appliances and lawn mowers, but when you can go to walmart and spend 5 minutes as opposed to an hour, (and probably less money as well) your gonna do that.

Look at it this way:

At the end of the day, $30 for jack stands, chocks, and a creeper is good, even if the jack ends up being shit.

Pretty hard to screw up jackstands. The jack might be questionable over time, but should work well for a while. Creeper, what can go wrong? Same as wheel chocks.

Our walmart, which isn’t a huge supercenter Walmart, is probably 4-5 times the square footage of this our sears, it's mostly because the sears is in a strip mall

All I can say is that, when I bought ramps in the 90s to do oil changes and other maintenance, I bought the best ones I could find, and I set them up on wood so they wouldn’t sink into the ashphalt on the driveway. If something could fail and I might get crushed, I want the best.

NP, that $90 kit is really cheap already, all that for $30 is amazing. $30 wouldn’t buy me ONE jack stand around here. (I was looking for a couple of those recently, $40 each.)
